4 Sydney food & wine events you can’t miss this Summer

Summer in Sydney is a fusion of endless days of warmth and sunshine, spending time with friends and family, and of course, countless food and wine events.

There are so many wine and food events in Sydney that it can be hard to know where to start, so we have compiled a list of the very best that you simply can’t miss this summer.

1/ Sydney Lunar Festival

When: Roughly the first two weeks of February
Where: All over Sydney

Recently renamed the Sydney Lunar Festival from the Chinese New Year Festival, this is one of the top annual Sydney events and a celebration of all things Chinese culture – and with that, some of the tastiest food and treats you can find in the city.

There are countless individual events and attractions as part of the celebrations, including the Rocks Lunar Market with stalls selling traditional fare, and the annual Kensington Street celebration which offers food and music.

2/ So Frenchy So Chic

When: Late January
Where: Bicentennial Park, Glebe

The French are arguably the food masters of the world, which is why a French festival is one of the best places to find delicious morsels in Sydney.

The event markets itself as something of a French picnic, but it’s a little more than that. There are cheese boards, raclette, crepes, charcuterie, fizzing champagnes, and hand-selected wines. You’ll need to pre-order your hamper, then you can turn up and relax to enjoy your meal and the entertainment on offer.

3/ Twilight Food Far

When: Friday evenings from October to March
Where: Civic Park, North Sydney

Every Friday night from October 25, the balmy summer weekends and hungry crowds create a festival-like atmosphere in Civic Park.

There are countless food stalls brimming with tasty treats from all over the world, as well as local options, vegetarian dishes, and more. This is also a family-friendly event, and includes live music and programs for the kids, so you can make a night of it with loved ones.

4/ Wine Island

When: November 1-3
Where: Clark Island

Even though it’s not quite officially summer in November, the warm sunny days feel enough like it that Wine Island is making it onto our list.

If the name doesn’t give it away, Wine Island is an annual event that celebrates premium wines from Australia and beyond, although also includes brews and cocktails. There’s a Rose Lifestyle Beach, treasure hunts, games, master classes, and plenty of delicious food to pair with the vinos.

There are limited spaces available due to the size of the island, so while you will need to book your spot early, you can be assured of smaller crowds and more time to speak with the winemakers.

Can’t wait for food festivals in Sydney? You don’t have to. The Meat & Wine Co celebrates incredible dishes every day of the week, and instead of booking a ticket, you only need to book a table. Reserve your space in Sydney CBD, Barangaroo or Parramatta to look forward to a food and wine experience
