Camberwell bars perfect for an after-work tipple

There’s nothing that will get you through the day quite like the thought of a refreshing and relaxing tipple with friends – or equally beleaguered colleagues.

On the other hand, there’s no way to celebrate closing a big deal, finally meeting a deadline, or simply receiving fantastic feedback from a client, quite like a tasty beverage from your favourite watering hole.

No matter the occasion, there’s no shortage of bars in Camberwell to help make it happen. Here are our picks for the best Camberwell bars to visit for an after-work tipple.

Nineteenforty Rooftop Bar

When the weather’s behaving itself and you’re ready to be out in the fresh breeze after a day of office air conditioning, you can’t beat the Nineteenforty Rooftop Bar.

This snazzy venue offers chic art-deco architecture and awesome views of the surrounding areas. You’ll find shady umbrellas in the heat of summer, and cosy heaters in the frostiness of winter.

You can’t go wrong with these bar snacks, views, and fabulous cocktails after a day at work!

Bar None Camberwell

Escape into another world as you enter Bar None – a prohibition-style speakeasy tucked away in the basement of an unmarked building.

Let the squishy, soft couches welcome you, and gather around the low-lit tables with friends for an ultra-relaxing drink is a bar that knows how to make a cocktail or two. There are more than 300 spirits in the collection, and the bartenders are known for their encyclopedic knowledge of cocktails, as well as their creativity and skill when mixing them together.

The Meat & Wine Co

It wouldn’t be a complete list of great Camberwell bars without mentioning our own!

The Meat & Wine Co in Camberwell stocks a full bar, including a detailed cocktail menu (and bartenders talented enough to make creations not found on the menu, too), a range of local and international beers, multiple ciders, several flight options, a full wine list, and all your standard hot and cold drink options as well.

The real draw card of this spot is the chic and relaxing atmosphere of the PUZA Lounge, which is the perfect location to while the night away with fantastic drinks, and perhaps even an equally delicious meal while you’re at it. This means we’re not only one of the best bars in Hawthorn, but an excellent restaurant option, too.

Palace Hotel Camberwell

The Palace Hotel is a mainstay of the Camberwell bar scene, and for good reason.

This grand old dame of watering holes is a local hotspot for watching the footy, trying out the beers and ciders on tap, and grabbing a quick and excellent meal. There are regular functions, trivia nights, special deals, and events, so you can guarantee that there’s always something happening at the Palace Hotel.

Toosies Laneway Bar

Tootsies Laneway Bar is all about a casual atmosphere where you can stroll in for a hearty burger, refreshing beer, or delicious cocktail.

There are low tables for groups, spots at the bar for a quick drink, and comfortable couches for catch up between friends. It’s got all your favourite drinks and snacks on the menu, and a homey atmosphere that will make you never want to leave.

Which of these Hawthorn bars will you visit for your next post-work drink?
