The Meat & Wine Co Barangaroo

Why you should dine at The Meat & Wine Co Barangaroo

Sydney’s newest waterfront hub of world-class dining, there’s no shortage of food to eat and places to explore in Barangaroo – and we’re proud to say The Meat & Wine Co is one of the very best.

For many years, the Barangaroo area – just a few minutes’ walk from Wynyard station – sat unloved despite its enviable location on the banks of Sydney Harbour. It wasn’t until 2003, when the Government of New South Wales designated the site for redevelopment into parklands and commercial space, that Sydney’s premier entertainment district began to take shape.

Barangaroo as we know it today is split into three parts: a 6-hectare headland park at the northern end of the site; Barangaroo Central, a 5.2-hectare area reserved as cultural and recreation space; and Barangaroo South, a mixed used development of shops, offices, apartments, and restaurants. Nowadays, Barangaroo is home to a cornucopia of waterfront restaurants and premier dining options – like us!

Things to do in Barangaroo

Planning to explore Barangaroo? Here are some of our top tips for a great day out:

Catch the ferry from Circular Quay

Although Barangaroo can be walked to from Circular Quay, catching the ferry offers a great opportunity to soak in the beauty of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge. Keep your eyes peeled during your trip and you might even spot some dolphins or the famous Opera House seal.

Do the Wulugul Walk

Stretching from Walsh Bay to Darling Harbour, the Wulugul Walks gives you the chance to take in some of the best sights from a 2km stretch of the Barangaroo foreshore. Looking for a longer walk?  Start at Woolloomooloo finger wharfs and follow the foreshore paths to Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, through the Royal Botanic Gardens and around the Sydney Opera House, before heading to Circular Quay, under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, into Walsh Bay and Millers Point before arriving at Wulugul Walk to relax and enjoy Barangaroo.

Check out shell wall 2015

Situated on the southern façade of the Alexander residential building at 21 Barangaroo Ave, shell wall 2015 is an impressive seven-storey art installation that acts as the gateway to the Wulugul Walk. The work is a collaboration between Bidjigal/Eora elder and senior artist Esme Timbery and Wiradjuri/Kamilaroi artist Jonathan Jones, and celebrates the traditional shell art of the La Perouse area.

Indulge in some retail therapy

From Australian retail institutions like David Jones and Peter’s of Kensington to independent boutiques, bookstores, and more, there’s no shortage of shops to visit for a little retail therapy. Have a stroll around the laneways of Barangaroo’s southern precinct and see what takes your fancy.
