The ultimate Barangaroo pub crawl

The ultimate Barangaroo pub crawl

With its unparalleled location on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour, the Barangaroo precinct is one of the city’s most popular hotspots for bars and restaurants alike. From sunny rooftop bars to fine dining, Barangaroo has it all in spades – no matter what you’re in the mood for.

Whether you’re heading to Barangaroo for a night out with friends, a laid-back date, a hens or bucks party – or if you’re on the hunt for the perfect cocktail – we’ve put together a selection of some of the top Barangaroo bars and restaurants for a pub crawl.

Beer DeLuxe

“Everything we do, we do for beer”: that’s the slogan at Beer LeLuxe, and it pretty much tells you everything you need to know about this popular Barangaroo brewhouse. Since its original location in Melbourne’s Federation Square opened in 2008, Beer DeLuxe has been a go-to haunt for pub crawlers and full-blown beer geeks alike, with over 150 beers to choose from on the menu.

In Beer DeLuxe’s Beer Bible, you’ll find craft varieties from established breweries like Squire’s, Little Creatures, 4 Pines, and Mountain Goat, as well as lesser-known names like Ekim, Philter, Capital, and Bridge Road Brewers. For food options, choose from a selection of beer-approved pub classics like pizza, burgers, fish and chips, and a range of snacks.

Less pub more swanky bar and bistro, Banksii is the place to be for lovers of a good cocktail, and, more specifically, vermouth. With over 40 types of vermouth on the drinks menu, Banksii takes its vermouth very seriously, and even offers a namesake rose variety, blended by Melbourne-based winemakers Maidenii.

When it comes to the food, Banksii’s Mediterranean-inspired menu is designed to be shared, with a selection of light, fresh dishes incorporating botanicals to match the bistro’s signature beverage. For a light bite, try the ocean trout tartare with green apple, kohlrabi, and roe, or for something more filling, share an irresistible pot of mussels cooked in white vermouth with green olives and herb butter.

NOLA Smokehouse & Bar

Inspired by the Creole and Cajun influences of New Orleans, NOLA Smokehouse & Bar serves southern barbecue with a twist, paired with American whiskeys and wines from the old and new world. In keeping with the lively New Orleans theme, live music and colourful décor make NOLA the perfect spot for a lively night out in Barangaroo.

Make sure to visit with a good appetite because smoked meats are the name of the game at NOLA, and they’re not skimping on the sides either. Try the dry-rubbed brisket with a side of BBQ beans and southern slaw, and wash it all down with a Sazerac rye whiskey for an experience that’s straight out of The Big Easy.

Offering arguably one of Sydney’s best views of the Harbour Bridge, waterside bar and restaurant Hacienda features floor-to-ceiling windows (naturally) and unique indoor-outdoor décor inspired by the plantation-style architecture of Cuba and  the glamourous tropical vibe of 1950s Miami. Think palm trees and accents of flamingo pink mood-lit to perfection.

Hacienda’s food and drink offerings align with the Cuban feel, with noteworthy drinks including the La Fiesta Del Fuego (Appleton Estate Rum, apricot brandy, guava juice, lime juice, falernum, and cranberry bitters) and the Pomelita (Altos Tequila, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, orgeat syrup, pink grapefruit juice, and Pamplemousses Monin syrup). For food, try the fresh tuna ceviche or the innovative mojito sliders with grilled chicken, kohlrabi slaw, cucumber, and mint aioli.
